I am Adrian, a Senior General Practitioner working in Malta Government Health Centres, run by
Primary Health Care Department. Though from
Mosta, my work mostly takes me to the Inner and Outer Harbour Regions. My duties involve seeing to the needs of large numbers of patients and includes treatment of minor illnesses, issuing of repeat prescriptions, management of chronic problems (eg
diabetes,
hypertension,
hypercholesterolaemia,
arthritis), treatment of minor trauma, management of acute psychiatric crises, and carrying out home visits. I also, through my work, deal extensively with
migrants coming to Malta from the Middle East and Africa.
I also provide teaching services to the
Specialist Training Programme in Family Medicine (Malta) as a GP trainer, the
Foundation Programme (Malta) as Educational and Clinical Supervisor, and the
University of Malta Medical School as part time lecturer. Since two years I have increased my teaching committments by taking on students from the
Barts Gozo Medical School.
